Best time to visit

October to March is ideal — 20–28°C days across Delhi, Agra and Rajasthan. April to June is very hot (40°C+); July to September brings monsoon rain, and Udaipur's lakes are at their fullest.

Overview

This seven-day private tour takes the classic Golden Triangle — Delhi, Agra and Jaipur — and carries on west into Rajasthan instead of turning back: to Jodhpur, the blue city below Mehrangarh Fort, and then to Udaipur, the city of lakes. You travel the whole way with the same private car and driver, with a licensed local guide at each city's sightseeing.

It's the shortest route that fits all five of North India's best-known cities without cutting one short. Two days are mostly on the road — Jaipur to Jodhpur, and Jodhpur to Udaipur — and the second of those is broken up by a stop at the marble Jain temple at Ranakpur, often the highlight people didn't know to expect. The trip ends with a short flight from Udaipur back to Delhi (or on to Mumbai) rather than a long drive.

If you'd rather have more time in Rajasthan, the 13-day Ultimate Classic Rajasthan tour adds Bikaner and a night in the Jaisalmer desert. If Jodhpur isn't a priority, the 8-day Golden Triangle with Udaipur gives each city an extra night.

Frequently asked questions

Is 7 days enough for the Golden Triangle plus Jodhpur and Udaipur?

Yes, though it's a full week rather than a relaxed one. Every city gets its main sights, and two days are mostly travel (Jaipur to Jodhpur, Jodhpur to Udaipur). If you'd like an extra night anywhere, Udaipur is the most rewarding place to add it.

How long are the drives?

Delhi to Agra is about 3.5 hours on the expressway, Agra to Jaipur about 5 hours with the Fatehpur Sikri stop, Jaipur to Jodhpur about 5.5 hours, and Jodhpur to Udaipur about 6 hours including the Ranakpur temple visit. The return from Udaipur is a flight of about 1 hour 20 minutes.

Is the flight from Udaipur included?

No — domestic flight prices change daily, so we book it at cost once your dates are fixed and add it to your invoice. Driving back instead is possible but adds roughly 11 hours on the road.

How is this different from the 8-day Golden Triangle with Udaipur, or Royal Rajasthan?

The 8-day tour skips Jodhpur and gives each city more time. Royal Rajasthan covers Jaipur, Pushkar, Jodhpur and Udaipur but leaves out Delhi and Agra. This 7-day tour is the only one that includes Delhi, the Taj Mahal, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur.

Which day should I avoid starting on?

The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday, and it's visited on day 3 — so avoid starting this tour on a Wednesday. The booking calendar won't offer those start dates.

Can I choose my hotels?

You choose the hotel tier when booking — Comfort (3-star heritage and business hotels), Premium (4-star boutique heritage properties) or Luxury (5-star palace hotels). We can also book specific hotels on request.

Is a visa required to visit India?

Most nationalities need an Indian e-Visa, applied for online before arrival. It isn't included in the tour price — check the official Indian government e-Visa site for your nationality's requirements well before departure.

Know more about this tour

Jodhpur was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, chief of the Rathore Rajputs, who began Mehrangarh Fort on a rocky ridge 125 metres above the plain the same year. The blue-washed houses of the old city below give Jodhpur its nickname. Udaipur followed a century later: Maharana Udai Singh II founded it in 1559 beside Lake Pichola, a man-made lake first dug in the 14th century, and the City Palace grew along its eastern shore over the next three hundred years.

Ranakpur's Chaumukha temple, between the two, is a 15th-century Jain temple dedicated to Adinatha, known for its forest of 1,444 carved marble pillars — no two of them alike.
